You can send dangerous goods data for a delivery or a shipment in electronic form to partners, such as forwarding agents or ship-to parties.
For EDI processing, all combinations of countries and mode-of-transport categories must come from SD documents for which dangerous goods data are to be determined.
· Deliveries
See Determination of Data in Shipping Documents
Edit the appropriate routes under Sales and Distribution → Basic Functions → Routes → Define Routes → Define Routes and Stages.
According to your requirements, you can define routes with stages in Customizing for Sales and Distribution, or edit the IMG activity Specify Transit Countries in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management. You can also edit route stages in outline, and define the required transit countries in the IMG activity Specify Transit Countries.
· Shipments
See Determination of Data in Shipment Documents
In shipment documents, the countries are derived from the nodes of the shipping stages of the type Leg. You need only specify routes if you have defined shipment types for which route stages are transferred to shipment stages. (You specify shipment types in Customizing under Logistics Execution → Transportation → Shipments → Define Shipment Types.) Ensure that addresses (particularly country and region) are specified for all shipment stages nodes, and that a shipping type has been entered for each shipment stage.
If you set the Take transit country table into acc. indicator in the route details, the countries entered in the IMG activity Specify Transit Countries in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management are also taken into account.
Set up output determination in Sales and Distribution by choosing Sales and Distribution → Basic Functions → Output Control → Output Determination → Output Determination Using the Condition Technique.
Also check the following IMG activities:
Deliveries: In Shipping in the IMG section Maintain Output Determination for Outbound Deliveries →
· Maintain Output Types
In the standard system, EDI processing from the delivery uses the output type LAVA with the following data:
¡ Transmission medium 6 (EDI)
¡ Program RSNASTED, FORM routine EDI_PROCESSING
· Maintain Output Determination Procedure
The output type LAVA is assigned to a determination procedure.
Shipments: In Transportation in the IMG section Maintain Output Determination for Shipments →
· Maintain Output Types
EDI shipping from shipments uses the output type SEDI with the following data:
¡ Transmission medium 6 (EDI)
¡ Program RSNASTED, FORM routine EDI_PROCESSING
· Maintain Output Determination Procedure
The output type SEDI is assigned to a determination procedure.
You have edited the IMG section Dangerous Goods Documents/EDI.
If you do not implement dangerous goods checks, but want to use dangerous goods documents or EDI, you must edit the following activities in the IMG section Dangerous Goods Checks in order to determine and update the selection date:
· Activate Dangerous Goods Checks
· Assign DG Check Schema Determination Routines
· Assign Dangerous Goods Check Schemas (here you assign a check schema without a check method)
You have
· Created materials for which dangerous goods data are to be sent, and edited basic data and sales and distribution data
· Assigned these materials a dangerous goods indicator profile to control the output and transfer of dangerous goods data in the Basic Data 2view
You edited the required dangerous goods indicator profile in the IMG activity Specify Indicator Profiles for the Material Master in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management.
Shipment documents are created with reference to delivery documents.
When you create a delivery document, the dangerous goods indicator profile is transferred from the material master to the shipping document item, and stored there. Changes made to the profile in the material master are not made in the delivery document and shipment document automatically.
You have created dangerous goods master records for the materials. EDI processing uses only dangerous goods master records
· For which a processing status has been set that has the Release status indicator active in the IMG activity Specify Processing Status in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management.
· For which the deletion indicator is not set
· For which the Inactive indicator is not set

The data is transferred depending on the port that is defined.
