Use

The processes described below are used for shipment and transportation scheduling.

Process Flow

You can use the CIF integration model to specify whether an availability check for a material is performed in SAP APO or locally in the ERP system. You can make this setting separately for each combination of material/plant. If an availability check for a material/plant is performed in the SAP APO system, then any shipment or transportation scheduling is also performed using the SAP APO shipment and transportation scheduling. The ECC shipment and transportation scheduling is not used in this situation.

We need to differentiate between the following scenarios:

...

       1.      The ordering and supplying systems use a joint APO system for a material/plant.

       2.      The ordering system does not have a link to an APO, or any other system apart from the supplying system.

The following are consequences with reference to shipping and transportation scheduling:

·        With a joint APO in the sales order and the delivery

To ensure consistent scheduling in cross-system processing, scheduling takes place in the APO system. This is realized by a new function in APO. This function is different from the scheduling used in the standard system.

·        With different APO in the sales order and the delivery

Mostly the same. However, scheduling is performed using the new APO function in the APO of the supplying system.

For more information, see the documentation for SAP APO – Advanced Planner and Optimizer in the section Supply Chain Management (SCM) Business Scenarios APO Shipment and Transportation Scheduling.

You can make the settings for shipping and transportation scheduling in Customizing for Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) under Global Available-To-Promise Check (Global ATP Check) Transportation and Shipment Scheduling.
